Using a precise recipe just...doesn't feel like cooking anymore for me, which may be a cultural thing. Y. told me about how her German housemate had all these measuring tools in the kitchen and was all, 'it's like a laboratory!' (I feel the same way. XD) Even when my mother was teaching me how to cook, she would just tell me when to stop adding stuff, lol, and couldn't give me an actual amount, just what looked right to her experienced eye.

I do follow recipes while baking, but that's because baking is just native to me, lol.
