I like the idea of describing meat as flower-like because of its appearance.

Yes! I perhaps should have put 火爆腰花 in the post too. It's often translated as "fire-exploded kidney flowers". I am a little dubious about the "exploded" part, since 爆 also means "quick-fried", which might make for a better translation. The "kidney flowers" part makes sense, though, as the method of cutting the kidneys opens them up in a way that does somewhat resemble flowers:
